Understanding the fracture influence on the P-wave velocity and physical?mechanical properties of brittle rocks is very useful for geotechnical characterization in a number of engineering problems, Rock masses, which appear intensely jointed, have been subjected to geostructural surveys on the most unstable portions; laboratory tests have been carried out on specimens sampled during borehole drillings; statistical analyses have been performed in order to compare the obtained data. The engineering properties of dolostones reflect a quantitative difference between the Taormina and Castelmola sites, highlighting how tectonics may have affected the two areas unequally.

Abstract
Understanding the fracture influence on the P-wave velocity and physical?mechanical properties of brittle rocks is very useful for geotechnical characterization in a number of engineering problems, Rock masses, which appear intensely jointed, have been subjected to geostructural surveys on the most unstable portions; laboratory tests have been carried out on specimens sampled during borehole drillings; statistical analyses have been performed in order to compare the obtained data. The engineering properties of dolostones reflect a quantitative difference between the Taormina and Castelmola sites, highlighting how tectonics may have affected the two areas unequally.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
