The authors studied 19 thalassemic patients: 14 patients with secondary amenorrhea (group A), 5 patients with primary amenorrhea (group B) and 1 patient with anovulation (group C). All the patients underwent three cycles of induction of ovulation with FSH. The level of 17β-estradiol and the diameter of follicles were evaluated every three days. Normal gonadal function was maintained in three patients with positive response at Step 1 of the treatment
