The "journey" of a play from Dresden to Weimar, that of Heinrich von Kleist's Penthesilea sent to Goethe, opens up new perspectives in the investigation of the conflicting and controversial relationship between the young playwright at his debut and the poet, as well as on the significance of this play as a camouflage of current political events. The contrast between the young playwright at his debut and the famous author, which has long been addressed by critics and resolved in the formula of the opposition of two different ways of conceiving the classic, is in reality much more complex and articulated and involves both the private sphere, already investigated by critics, and the ideological and political ones. This last aspect has so far been scarcely investigated, or at least only hinted at, within the accentuation of the contrast, scarcely productive from an exegetical point of view, between classic and romantic.

Abstract
This last aspect has so far been scarcely investigated, or at least only hinted at, within the accentuation of the contrast, scarcely productive from an exegetical point of view, between classic and romantic.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
