Cardiovascular imaging is at a crossroad; in the near future, it will be oriented to an integrated multimodality approach, comprehensive of the assessment and integration of morphology, pathophysiology, biology, risk stratification, prognosis, and guidance of therapy. At this regard, we might consider a more complex approach: translational multimodality cardiovascular imaging, redefining the role of cardiovascular imaging across the continuum of biomedical, bioengineering, statistical, epidemiological research, and clinical practice
