In 2009 the Iranian-Italian Joint Expedition in Khuzistan (Iran) worked in the sites of Hong-e Azdar, Hong-e Kamalwand and Hong-e Yar-Aliwand, carrying on the research activities begun in the first campaign (2008). When analyzing the pictures of the Hong-e Yar-Aliwand rock-sculpture, it became clear to researchers that some tiny traces of letters appeared in the upper part of the sculptured surface, between the heads of the two figures. The inscription is not detectable with the naked eye, due to both the badly eroded surface of the rock and its position. As far as the script is concerned, it is quite certain that what we are faced with here is an Elymaic inscription in the Aramaic language (1st-2nd cent.

Abstract
AD).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
