The recent publication of Kieslowski's documentary and fiction screenplays is an opportunity to re-evaluate his visual style through the lenses of a renewed understanding of the relation between ideation, script and image construction. This essay explores the creative strategies of the Polish filmmaker - the relation between written text and editing - and focuses on a specific case study: the documentary From the City of Lodz and its correlation to the recently published script The inhabitants of Lodz. The joint analysis of the script and the audiovisual version will allow us to retrace the progressive trajectory of Kieslowski's style of "thinking through images”.

Abstract
The recent publication of Kieslowski's documentary and fiction screenplays is an opportunity to re-evaluate his visual style through the lenses of a renewed understanding of the relation between ideation, script and image construction. This essay explores the creative strategies of the Polish filmmaker - the relation between written text and editing - and focuses on a specific case study: the documentary From the City of Lodz and its correlation to the recently published script The inhabitants of Lodz. The joint analysis of the script and the audiovisual version will allow us to retrace the progressive trajectory of Kieslowski's style of "thinking through images”.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
