The surface of low density polyethylene (LDPE) was modified by grafting a photoinitiator on it, after an Ar plasma treatment. The functionalisation was characterized by contact angle measurements, XPS analyses and AFM. The grafted LDPE was then coated with a UV-curable formulation based on highly fluorinated oligomers. Although the surface tension of the coating is very low, a good adhesion onto the substrate was obtained due to the surface treatment which was applied.

Abstract
The surface of low density polyethylene (LDPE) was modified by grafting a photoinitiator on it, after an Ar plasma treatment. The functionalisation was characterized by contact angle measurements, XPS analyses and AFM. The grafted LDPE was then coated with a UV-curable formulation based on highly fluorinated oligomers. Although the surface tension of the coating is very low, a good adhesion onto the substrate was obtained due to the surface treatment which was applied.File in questo prodotto:
