The present essay deals with the vetting procedure, introduced in Albania by the constitutional reform of 2016. Vetting's stated purpose is to "consolidate" the legal State in Albania and rebuild citizens' trust in the institutions, also in light of the Republic of Albania's entry into the European Union. The Author proposes a critical assessment of the Albanian vetting process, highlighting some tensions with constitutional (and sovranational) principles of due process.
