The Schistidio atrofusci-Grimmietum pulvinatae, a new association of the class Grimmietea anodontis on the Mediterranean mountains

The new association Schistidio atrofusci-Grimmietum pulvinatae of the class Grimmietea anodontis, found in many mountain areas of the Mediterranean region, is here described. Its structure, floristic composition, ecological and phytosociological aspects are discussed. Moreover, life syndromes of the species are given, indicating some key functions and adaptive traits for habitat maintenance, establishment and dispersal.
