The agribusiness sector contributes, in many respects, to global climate change and, more generally, to pollution. It is therefore important to have suitable tools for improving the environmental performance of products throughout their supply chain. Among them, recently, it has found application the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology which, analyzing all the production phases “from cradle to grave”, allows to highlight the main environmental issues related to them. This paper reports the preliminary results of the Life Cycle Inventory Analysis (LCI), one of the four LCA steps, realized among the pasta production chain. The simplified approach here applied, leading to easy-to-read results, has allowed the identification of all the raw materials and energetic resources involved and the creation of an useful support for taking important decisions related with the environmentally sustainable management of the production process.

Abstract
The agribusiness sector contributes, in many respects, to global climate change and, more generally, to pollution. It is therefore important to have suitable tools for improving the environmental performance of products throughout their supply chain. Among them, recently, it has found application the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology which, analyzing all the production phases “from cradle to grave”, allows to highlight the main environmental issues related to them. This paper reports the preliminary results of the Life Cycle Inventory Analysis (LCI), one of the four LCA steps, realized among the pasta production chain. The simplified approach here applied, leading to easy-to-read results, has allowed the identification of all the raw materials and energetic resources involved and the creation of an useful support for taking important decisions related with the environmentally sustainable management of the production process.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
