Among 200,719 referrals throughout 2015-2017, 16 patients were admitted with the diagnosis of lactic acidosis while on treatment with metformin. Among them, 6 were treated by continuous renal replacement therapy in our Sub-Intensive Care Unit (SICU), 3 were admitted to ICU, 2 had intermittent renal replacement therapy in the Nephrology Unit and the remaining 5 were treated with medical therapy. Seven patients (44%) deceased during the hospital stay. We evaluated if any available information could be predictive of survival.
