The main objective of this work has been the determination of the relative F1s/C1s area ratios after the inclusion of the appropriate instrument sensitivity factors for the stoichiometries. Taking into account the -C(O)O (centered at 289.3 eV) and the three C-F functionalities of the C1s region (centered at 292.2, 293.7, and 295.2, respectively), it is possible to calculate the F1s/C1s area ratios corrected from hydrocarbon contamination. It is evident from the results for the F1s/C1s ratios that there is more fluorine in the surface with respect to the amount predicted from the composition reported. In particular, the samples containing PFPE (perfluoro Polyethers) nonbonded to PET (polyethylene terephthalate) (completely or in part) show nearly the same F1s/C1s ratio, which decreases when all the PFPE is bonded to PET.
