A karyological study of Ophrys ferrum-equinum and O. oestrifera of Greece was carried out. The chromosome number, 2n=36, for both species is reported here for the first time. In O. ferrum-equinum in pair1 a long linear satellite is observed in the short arm, while in O. oestrifera a constriction located on the short arm, always in pair 1, is present.

Abstract

A karyological study of Ophrys ferrum-equinum and O. oestrifera of Greece was carried out. The chromosome number, 2n=36, for both species is reported here for the first time. In O. ferrum-equinum in pair1 a long linear satellite is observed in the short arm, while in O. oestrifera a constriction located on the short arm, always in pair 1, is present.

An Mustern von Ophry ferrum-equinum und O. oestrifera aus Griechenland wurden karyologische Untersuchungen durchgeführt. Für beide Arten wird erstmals die Chromosomenzahl berichtet, sie beträgt 2n=36. Bei O. ferrum-equinum wurde im ersten Chromosomenpaar ein langer linearer Satellit am kurzen Arm beobachtet, während bei O. oestrifera, ebenfalls im ersten Paar, eine sekundäre Verengung am kurzen Arm festgestellt wurde.
