The vibratory perception threshold (VPT) was measured by means of a Bio-Thesiometer (Newbury, Ohio, USA) in a group of 120 healthy subjects, in order to establish a normal range of reference. The subjects were non-drinkers, non- or only light-smokers, and aged between 20 and 85 years. All subjects underwent VPT measurements on both hemisomes in 4 sites, two on the arms and two on the legs. They were divided into age classes of ten years and Healy's test was used to calculate percentual levels (5, 10, 50, 90, 95) between the minimum and maximum range. Our data agreed with those of other authors: VPT correlated with age in all sites in both hemisomes, i.e., a gradual, progressive increase of normal values was observed with aging.

Abstract
Our data agreed with those of other authors: VPT correlated with age in all sites in both hemisomes, i.e., a gradual, progressive increase of normal values was observed with aging.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
