The Project for the Courtyard of the University Palace in Catania: a Documentary Evidence before theEarthquake of 1693The article report the original project for the courtyard of the University Palace of Catania. Here is attested its appearancebefore the disastrous earthquake of 1693, when the palace was destroyed and later rebuilt, as well as most of the buildings inthe city.The found document offers interesting constructive indications, it specify the size of the elements and the materials pretendedto be used. It also reveal the involvement of the architect Pietro Castro in the design of the building and the names of themastersin charge from Trapani area of the execution of the elements.Althoughthe current structure of the building does not allow an exact comparison with what it is contained in this document,the study of the document related with the actual situation permit to prefigure the original shape of the courtyard.
