The essay documents the project of architectural reconfiguration of Statella palace in Palermo, a building of the sixteenth century, transformed by Giacomo Amato for prestigious aristocratic clients.The examination of archival documents, together with the analysis of the original drawings, help to clarify the building history, the stages of the construction and especially the role of the architect in the process of reconfiguration of the building. The project and construction of the palace are documented by seven drawings autographs, preserved in the fourth volume of the collection of Amato’s drawings and a series of "chapters", attachments to contractual agreements between the client and the masters involved in various ways in the construction, related to the advancement of the facade.
