Abstract
Over the last years the building of emergency departments in Italy has been under discussion, whereas in other countries the problem of the organization of the system responsible for emergency treatment was faced several years ago. In emergencies, especially in traumas, the organization of the system is of primary importance in improving survival and rehabilitation of accident victims. This improvement markedly reduces the total emergency related health costs and underlines the necessity to build these departments. We report a detailed analysis of the main organization requirements in an emergency department, such as organization of medical and paramedical staff and their tasks, planning and equipping of the premises. We also carefully evaluated the indispensible rescue system of the department which must be formed of modern, efficient, fast vehicles with specialized medical staff on board. In this way the transport to hospital can become the first stage of aimed treatment in a complex sanitary iterFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
