Effects of ibopamine on fluid retention were assessed in eight cirrhotic patients with ascites, after a period on a controlled diet and without diuretics. Ibopamine alone (100 mg BID) was administered for one week, followed by diuretics (muzolimine and/or canrenone) for one week. No increase in diuresis and no reduction of fluid retention were observed in the first week during ibopamine treatment. A significant increase in diuresis and a decrease in ascites and body weight were obtained only when diuretics were administered concomitantly.

Abstract
Effects of ibopamine on fluid retention were assessed in eight cirrhotic patients with ascites, after a period on a controlled diet and without diuretics. Ibopamine alone (100 mg BID) was administered for one week, followed by diuretics (muzolimine and/or canrenone) for one week. No increase in diuresis and no reduction of fluid retention were observed in the first week during ibopamine treatment. A significant increase in diuresis and a decrease in ascites and body weight were obtained only when diuretics were administered concomitantly.File in questo prodotto:
