The contribution of Hannah Arendt on totalitarianism has a precise epistemological significance. It is the faculty of judging, when properly applied, to come necessarily into conflict with any form of moral and ideological oppression. And in fact the reduction of the concept of experience has helped to create a vacuum that was filled by totalitarian ideologies. The ideological thinking is built around the image of the emptiness of perception, assuming the task of replacing the givenness of things by the "logic of the idea." Furthermore, the totalitarian ideology will ratify the "legalization" of the epistemological relationship between subject and practical ends, among meanings and purposes, between subject and object, making almost unnecessary the experience of knowledge itself, and thereby limiting the autonomy of individuals.

Abstract
The contribution of Hannah Arendt on totalitarianism has a precise epistemological significance. It is the faculty of judging, when properly applied, to come necessarily into conflict with any form of moral and ideological oppression. And in fact the reduction of the concept of experience has helped to create a vacuum that was filled by totalitarian ideologies. The ideological thinking is built around the image of the emptiness of perception, assuming the task of replacing the givenness of things by the "logic of the idea." Furthermore, the totalitarian ideology will ratify the "legalization" of the epistemological relationship between subject and practical ends, among meanings and purposes, between subject and object, making almost unnecessary the experience of knowledge itself, and thereby limiting the autonomy of individuals.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
