The present article deals with the surgical treatment of tumors of the maxillo-facial area. It is pointed out the importance, both aestetically and functionally, of the mesostructures of this area. Wide excision of infiltrating cancers is the elective way of treatment. However this aggressive approach needs the utilization of more sophisticated techniques of reconstruction. In the present study several surgical methods for the excision as well as the reconstruction of infiltrating cancers are reported. The aim of these methods is to obtain an appropriate tumor resection assuring, at the same time, a good aesthetic and functional result.
