Abstract
From the Republican age, through the Augustan era, to the Late antiquity, partially different motivations suggested to the Roman central government that some cities should be favored rather than others. Through a study of literary, epigraphic and numismatic sources, this paper aims to show how the tendency, already present in Greek times, of Sicilian cities to rivalry and competition was accentuated by the attribution of privileges under Roman rule.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
