Prolonged rest in acute and chronic hepatitis is commonly considered an important therapeutic measure. Effects of a strenuous and sustained physical exercise on serum levels of SGOT, SGPT, γHT, OCT, CPK, LDH, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin were evaluated in patients with acute, chronic active hepatitis and in a control group of normal subjects. A significant increase to levels commonly considered pathological, was observed only for OCT. However, patients with liver disease have an analogous increase which does not differ significantly from that of controls. It could be related to a reduction of splanchnic blood flow during exercise, with sustained effects. It is concluded that, even if evidence of severe alterations of serum enzyme levels attributable to physical activity is lacking, caution is still necessary during convalescence from hepatitis.

Abstract
It is concluded that, even if evidence of severe alterations of serum enzyme levels attributable to physical activity is lacking, caution is still necessary during convalescence from hepatitis.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
