The work aims to the knowledge of the Italian citrus sector and, in particular, of the Sicilian citrus production.It highlights the peculiarities of the citrus production in order to provide an indication of the current development conditions of citrus in Sicily. After reviewing the technical characteristics of structural Italian and Sicilian citrus production, it analyzes the strengths and the weaknesses that affect the development of Sicilian citrus. The SWOT analysis of the citrus sector in Sicily represents an important contribution to the process of ex-ante evaluation of programming, and it allows the identification of the intervention priorities and strategies to be implemented in order to achieve the goals.
