Although agreement between 2D-STE and gold standard techniques such as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is reported in the evaluation of endocardial strain, multilayer analysis is not yet routine clinical practice in the monitoring of cardiotoxicity. The main limitations in the use of layer-specific strain are the need for a specific software with good agreement of LS-GLS between themain suppliers. It is also unclear whether these measurements depend on age or gender. Further studies are needed to compare different ultrasound systems and their software to set robust reference standards across a wide range of age groups in healthy individuals, with clinical implications to accurately differentiate normality from pathology.

Abstract
Although agreement between 2D-STE and gold standard techniques such as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is reported in the evaluation of endocardial strain, multilayer analysis is not yet routine clinical practice in the monitoring of cardiotoxicity. The main limitations in the use of layer-specific strain are the need for a specific software with good agreement of LS-GLS between themain suppliers. It is also unclear whether these measurements depend on age or gender. Further studies are needed to compare different ultrasound systems and their software to set robust reference standards across a wide range of age groups in healthy individuals, with clinical implications to accurately differentiate normality from pathology.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
