The genus Amphidelus Thorne, 1939 is revised. Several aspects of its morphology and taxonomy are discussed and the variability and diagnostic significance of the main morphological characters are evaluated. The genus is characterized, among Alaimidae, bv the peculiar vulvo-vaginal structure: thick-walled vagina and vulva with open lips. Other typical characters are: relatively large size, low lip region, well developed chaliciform amphids with slit-like opening, pharynx relatively short, gradually expanding in its posterior part, excretory pore anteriorly located, female genital apparatus mostly didelphic, male reproductive apparatus monorchic with anteriorly directed testis, spicules short with central piece and three to five ventral precloacal papillae. Fifteen species are attributed to this genus: among them the new species A. pilatoi sp. n. and A. thornei sp. n are erected. Abstract
