The paper deals with the biography of Papirius Iustus, an unknown prudens, author of the Libri XX de constitutionibus. Through the accurate analysis of epigraphic and papyrus sources, the a. concludes that Papirius Iustus was not only a jurist of Marcus Aurelius’ and Commodus’ consilia, but also imperial high of-ficial (praefectus annonae and praefectus Aegypti).
