Abstract

One of the most interesting fields of contemporary research is addressed to the realization of kinetic building components. It can be obtained by using foldable surfaces, that are light surfaces which increase their strength thanks to the folds. They could be useful to form envelopes, coverings, shading elements or entire pavilions. KREO is classifiable in this field; it is an experimentation concerning geometric modelling and fold texture, in relation with kinematism. In addition, in KREO project, tests of composite materials are carried out with CNR of Catania, to evaluate the most useful of them, to this purpose.
