The popular element in the Italian translations of Fortunata y Jacinta The reproduction of the popular register in the two Italian versions of Fortunata y Jacinta (First Book) is analyzed, observing the strategies adopted in both translations. En este estudio se analiza la reproducción del registro popular en las dos versiones italianas de Fortunata y Jacinta observando las estrategias adoptadas en sendas traducciones: Baccani Giani (1926) propone un texto domesticador, mientras que Rocco (2000) se decanta por la extranjerización; a pesar de dos opciones opuestas, en ambas se pierden numerosos matices que en el texto original justamente caracterizan como popular el habla de varios personajes.
