Summary. This study evaluates the accuracy of ultrasound (U.S.) in patients undergoing axillary lymph node biopsy. Methods: The axillary U.S. were made prior to a biopsy of suspicious lymph nodes. Lymph node status as assessed by U.S. and / or biopsy was compared with final histology. Results: Of the 20 patients enrolled, 18 ((90%) had suspicious axillary lymph nodes, 12 (60.%) Were true positives, while in 8 cases (40%) were not. In 6 cases a biopsy was performed suspects US-guided, that (100%) confirmed the neoplastic involvement. Overall, biopsy linfononodi guessed istology finalConclusions: The U.S. of the axillary lymph nodes, associated with a biopsy improves preoperative evaluation of patients with breast cancer
