The sharing (or communion) of goods illustrated in the Acts of the Apostles was based on the overarching unanimity of sentiment, thought and action among the members of a community. Previous studies of the connection between wealth and power in early Chris- tian communities have examined either the behaviour of prominent individuals or practi- ces in monastic communities. The focus here instead is to verify to what extent, during the late Latin West (4th –6th centuries) and based on the existing documentation, the bib- lical model of the communion of goods as proposed in the Acts of the Apostles was implemented as suggested, especially in non-monastic communities.

Abstract
The sharing (or communion) of goods illustrated in the Acts of the Apostles was based on the overarching unanimity of sentiment, thought and action among the members of a community. Previous studies of the connection between wealth and power in early Chris- tian communities have examined either the behaviour of prominent individuals or practi- ces in monastic communities. The focus here instead is to verify to what extent, during the late Latin West (4th –6th centuries) and based on the existing documentation, the bib- lical model of the communion of goods as proposed in the Acts of the Apostles was implemented as suggested, especially in non-monastic communities.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
