Transformations and adaptations on the Acropolis of Polizzello. Non-destructive analysis on layer ceramics from the area of the Sacello E · This paper deals with preliminary results of a project concerning the study of indigenous pottery coming from the shrine E of the Polizzello’s acropolis, both painted and engraved. Fragments have been selected on a stratigraphic basis, with the aim of detecting if the archaeological transformations of the area, consisting in evident changes in architectural schemes and ritual performances, correspond to parallel changes of clay composition. Fifteen samples have been analyzed through X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. In particular, some diπerence between material belonging to the phase preceding the construction of the shrine E and the one to be referred to the last has been revealed.
