Villa Reimann rises along the southern edge of the Akradina cliff, near the Neapolis, one of the most extensive and important archaeological areas of Siracusa. For its extension and the variety of the elements included in it, Villa Reimann represents an extremely significant ensemble for the ancient and modern history of the city. However, it is afflicted by a continuous state of maintenance debt and underuse, despite being the only urban public park. The paper briefly reconstructs the history of Villa Reimann and shows the results of a study that has contributed to increasing the knowledge of the site with the aim of its conservation. Therefore, a reflection on the difficult coexistence of the park with the massive urban expansion and the new challenges for the planning of the city is proposed, towards increasing urban quality through the conservation, enhancement, and strengthening of this precious natural system.
