Il lessico dell’astrazione in Alessandro di Afrodisia

This article is about the terms used in the works traditionally ascribed to Alexander of Aphrodisias to mean the process of abstraction through which intellect separates form and matter. The passages are studied in order to identify what nouns and verbs are used. Since in two works of dubious authorship ajfairevw and ajfaivresi" are found, the usage of these terms in the works that can be ascribed with certainty to Alexander is studied. The results obtained are examined in the light of the hypotheses about the authorship and chronology of the cited works formulated by scholars so far.

Questo articolo ha come oggetto la terminologia usata nelle opere attribuite dalla tradizione ad Alessandro di Afrodisia per indicare il processo di astrazione mediante cui l’intelletto separa forma e materia. I diversi passi sono studiati per individuare sostantivi e verbi utilizzati. Poiché in due opere di paternità dubbia si riscontrano ajfairevw e ajfaivresi", si analizza l’uso di questi termini nelle opere che possono essere attribuite con certezza ad Alessandro. I risultati raggiunti sono esaminati alla luce delle diverse ipotesi formulate finora dagli studiosi sulla paternità e sulla cronologia delle opere citate.
