Dentro la scena di Fanny & Alexander: la trasposizione intermediale dell’Amica geniale

Always close to the world of literature, Chiara Lagani and Luigi De Angelis, founders of the Fanny & Alexander company, from 2017 to 2019 have realized the dramaturgical project Storia di un’amicizia taken from the cycle of novels by Elena Ferrante L’amica geniale. This essay proposes a critical study of the three plays that compose the project: Le due bambole, Il nuovo cognome, La bambina perduta. Given the strong literary matrix of these stage productions, the perspective of investigation adopted is placed at the crossroads between theatrology and literary analysis, in the liminal space of intersemiotic researches. The epistemological field of media studies, and the categories of intermediality, transmediality and remediation, constitute in fact the theoretical frame within which the contribution is developed; starting from a contextualization of Fanny & Alexander’s work among the ‘cultural effects’ produced by the Ferrante’s novel, to arrive at a broad hermeneutic dig in its formal and thematic structures. Leveraging a precise constellation of elements (heterodirect acting, coreutic gestures, photographs and films in Super8, narrative interpolations) the theatrical adaptation of Lagani and De Angelis acquires an autonomous expressive value, which reveals the potentials of the transition from the novel-form to the theater-form, and with them the vital and free impulse of the dramaturgical imagination.

Da sempre vicini al mondo della letteratura, Chiara Lagani e Luigi De Angelis, fondatori della compagnia Fanny & Alexander, dal 2017 al 2019 hanno realizzato il progetto drammaturgico Storia di un’amicizia tratto dal ciclo di romanzi di Elena Ferrante L’amica geniale. Il presente saggio propone uno studio critico dei tre spettacoli che compongono il progetto: Le due bambole, Il nuovo cognome, La bambina perduta. Data la forte matrice letteraria di queste produzioni sceniche, la prospettiva d’indagine adottata si colloca all’incrocio tra teatrologia e analisi letteraria, vale a dire nello spazio liminale proprio delle ricerche intersemiotiche. L’ambito epistemologico dei media studies, e le categorie di intermedialità, transmedialità e rimediazione, costituiscono infatti il frame teorico entro cui si sviluppa il contributo; partendo da una contestualizzazione del lavoro di Fanny & Alexander tra gli ‘effetti culturali’ prodotti dall’opera ferrantiana, per giungere ad un ampio affondo ermeneutico nelle sue strutture formali e tematiche. Facendo leva su una precisa costellazione di elementi (recitazione eterodiretta, gestualità coreutiche, fotografie e filmati in Super8, interpolazioni narrative) l’adattamento teatrale di Lagani e De Angelis acquista un autonomo valore espressivo, che rivela le potenzialità del transito dalla forma-romanzo alla forma-teatro, e con esse lo slancio libero e vitale dell’immaginazione drammaturgica.
