Abstract. The essay examines the dispute between Poste Italiane S.p.A. and savers. The dispute arose after the former paid lower interest payments at maturity than those originally fixed on the thirty-year interest-bearing bonds. In particular, the essay assesses the adequacy of savers’ protection in the presence of a unilateral modification of the agreement.
