The contribution offers some reflections related to the theme of resilience starting from a reading of the document Heritage and Resilience: Issues and Opportunities for Reducing Disaster Risks, formulated by UNESCO in 2013. Among the issues addressed, exemplified through a series of case studies, are the relationship between seismic vulnerability and cultural heritage, knowledge as an engine of resilience and the importance of adequately considering the cultural values of a society, both in risk communication and in the post-disaster recovery phase.
