Tra letteratura e dispositivo museale: sulle tracce delle collezioni nella narrativa contemporanea

Among the forms of hybridization characterizing the literature of twentieth century, the representation of museum in narrative texts creates different thematic and rhetorical declinations, and therefore lends itself to being analyzed though multiple hermeneutic perspectives. Configuring itself as a setting space of the plot, a literary transfiguration of real museums, or as a systematic collection of objects – collections sometimes taking on a metatextual value – the museum device interacts with the narrative writing and outlines a field still not too much explored by critical studies. Starting from these premises, the contribution intends to propose a reading of some of contemporary occurrences of the theme, both Italian and foreign, in particular in the texts La casa della vita (1958) by Mario Praz, The museum of innocence (2008) by Orhan Pamuk and, to guide the final considerations, Non luogo a procedere (2015) by Claudio Magris.

Tra le forme di ibridazione che caratterizzano la scrittura letteraria del Novecento, la rappresentazione del museo nei testi narrativi dà luogo a diverse declinazioni tematiche e retoriche, e si presta dunque ad essere analizzata attraverso molteplici prospettive ermeneutiche. Configurandosi come spazio di ambientazione del plot, o di trasfigurazione in chiave letteraria di musei reali, oppure ancora come raccolta sistematica di oggetti, di collezioni che assumono talvolta una valenza metatestuale, il dispositivo museale interagisce con la scrittura narrativa e delinea un campo d’indagine ancora poco esplorato dagli studi critici. Prendendo avvio da tali premesse, il contributo intende proporre la lettura di alcune occorrenze contemporanee del tema, sia italiane che straniere, in particolare nei testi La casa della vita (1958) di Mario Praz, Il museo dell’innocenza (2008) di Orhan Pamuk e, a guidare le riflessioni finali, Non luogo a procedere (2015) di Claudio Magris.
