Democrazia rappresentativa e democrazia partecipativa. Riflessioni intorno alla città metropolitana anche alla luce della sentenza n. 240/2021 della Corte costituzionale

The recent sentence of the Constitutional Court n. 240/2021 reproposes the issue of the metropolitan mayor, who automatically is the mayor of the capital city, and the issue of the democratic legitimacy of the metropolitan city. The possible solutions lie between representative democracy and participatory democracy. In fact, representative democracy is only one of the many forms in which popular sovereignty is expressed.
