Immagini all’Opera. Il Museo Zeffirelli di Firenze

This paper aims to stimulate a reflection on the museology of opera during the 21st century through the study case of the Zeffirelli Museum in Florence. The essay analyses the birth and the objectives of the heritage collected by the director, set and costume designer. They are reused since 2015 by the Fondazione Zeffirelli Onlus and the International Centre for the Arts and the Performing Arts, set up inside the Complesso di San Firenze in his hometown. As an integrated archive, museum, and school, it now works on the transmission of his heritage divided between cinema, theatre and opera. For this reason, the analysis starts from the recognition of the visual culture embedded inside the opera paths and exhibition activities of the intermedial museum.

Il saggio è un primo stimolo alla riflessione sulle forme e le strategie della museologia d’opera per i musei del XXI secolo attraverso il caso studio del Museo Zeffirelli a Firenze. Esso ripercorre la nascita e gli obiettivi del patrimonio del regista, scenografo e costumista fiorentino, rimessi in ‘opera’ dal 2015 dalla Fondazione Zeffirelli Onlus e dal nascente Centro Internazionale per le Arti e lo Spettacolo realizzato all’interno del Complesso di San Firenze nella città natale. Archivio, museo e scuola, esso lavora oggi in maniera complementare alla trasmissione della sua opera divisa fra cinema, teatro e opera. Partendo dal riconoscimento dei rapporti legati alla cultura visuale dell’artista si analizzano qui le strategie espositive e le attività legate ai percorsi operistici.
