Wilkinson presented an interesting review in which the authors discussed the effectiveness of nonablative therapy for Meniere’s disease (MD). Based on their experience and on their review of the literature, the authors concluded that clinicians should consider nonablative therapies before intratympanic (IT) administration of gentamicin or surgical procedures, that they suggested only in the minority of subjects, as widely reported in literature. The article is very interesting and the vast experience of a historical department like the House Ear Institute should be always considered. However, we would like to point out some short remarks.

Abstract

Wilkinson presented an interesting review in which the authors discussed the effectiveness of nonablative therapy for Meniere’s disease (MD). Based on their experience and on their review of the literature, the authors concluded that clinicians should consider nonablative therapies before intratympanic (IT) administration of gentamicin or surgical procedures, that they suggested only in the minority of subjects, as widely reported in literature. The article is very interesting and the vast experience of a historical department like the House Ear Institute should be always considered. However, we would like to point out some short remarks.
