Abstract
The modifications of optical absorption spectra and of hardness induced by irradiations with various ion speciés in three polymers have been determined quantitatively by means of spectroscopic ellipsometry and of nanoindentation tests. Their analysis in terms of amounts of energy deposited respectively in nuclear collisions and in electronic excitations indicates that the latter have a predominant effect on both properties. The efficiency of ionizations depends on the ablity of radicals formed under each ion impact to interact.File in questo prodotto:
