Abstract

The evolution of process control has been accompanied by the disappearance of paper data (worksheet) and by the growing of software application in order to integrate production activities; although, during production progress, the old worksheet may yet be cheaper and more easily intelligible. The above mentioned behaviour, based on the power of I&CT, requires that interfaces of the information system are filled with production data on a scale proportional to the requested depth of the analysis. A medium-sized manufacturing company, equipped with an ERP information system, shows inefficiency costs, due to the production progress control, which are not negligible. Given this evolutionary paradox, an automatic system of production data gathering is designed; it is based on particular sheets of paper which can be identified by radio frequency. This system enables process control, cost accounting and scheduling to be improved. Furthermore a new classification of production data is proposed and briefly shown.
