In the first half of the 20 th century, Augusto Romagnoli laid the foundations for a profound reform regarding the methods and practices of education for the blind. This work aims to retrace, via the reading of some of his texts, the highlights of this educational proposal, whose roots have their origins in the autobiographical experiences of Romagnoli himself. Romagnoli's pedagogical intuitions, which were deeply tied to the new demands of the activism of the time, constituted an essential point of reference for what concerns the legislative provisions of the Gentile reform of 1923, which sanctioned the principle of compulsory education for the blind as well. Provisions, for the drafting of which he was directly called to collaborate, and in which most of his ideas converged.

Abstract
In the first half of the 20 th century, Augusto Romagnoli laid the foundations for a profound reform regarding the methods and practices of education for the blind. Romagnoli's pedagogical intuitions, which were deeply tied to the new demands of the activism of the time, constituted an essential point of reference for what concerns the legislative provisions of the Gentile reform of 1923, which sanctioned the principle of compulsory education for the blind as well.
