In this paper, we concentrate on stereotypes related to the female sphere, which originate from both social and cognitive structures. These stereotypes persist in the collective imagination of both male and female communities and are challenging to eradicate. Moreover, these conceptualisations of women, conveyed through idiomatic phrases, clearly demonstrate the interconnectedness of stereotypes and metaphors, often with negative connotations. We will demonstrate that fixed expressions present a challenge in terms of accurately conveying meaning during translation, within a specific referential context and the experiential understanding of every individual.

Abstract
In this paper, we concentrate on stereotypes related to the female sphere, which originate from both social and cognitive structures. These stereotypes persist in the collective imagination of both male and female communities and are challenging to eradicate. Moreover, these conceptualisations of women, conveyed through idiomatic phrases, clearly demonstrate the interconnectedness of stereotypes and metaphors, often with negative connotations. We will demonstrate that fixed expressions present a challenge in terms of accurately conveying meaning during translation, within a specific referential context and the experiential understanding of every individual.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
