The authors describe two cases of right and left diaphragmatic eventrations. The etiology is probably post-traumatic in the patient with the right eventration, and degenerative in the patient with the left eventration. The diagnosis was done using a standard chest X-ray that showed the permanent heightening hemidiaphragm with immobility at radioscopy. The respiratory functionality tests underlined a restrictive syndrome in both cases. In both patients normalization of spirometric values resulted after surgical therapy. The surgical therapy was carried out using thoracotomy at the 7(th) intercostal space by plication of the hemidiaphragm. The authors conclude that this kind of surgery can be defined as functional surgical therapy and must be done in symptomatic patients with abnormal functionality tests.

Abstract
The authors conclude that this kind of surgery can be defined as functional surgical therapy and must be done in symptomatic patients with abnormal functionality tests.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
