Ideal Types and Scientific Theories

In this work I will put forward the idea that Max Weber’s conception of the “ideal type” may have a role in the process aimed at formulating a reliable concept of scientific law and scientific theory. The relationship between Weber, theorist of socio–historical science, and post-positivist history of science has been made possible by Carl Hempel, who understood the importance of Weber’s message and, at the same time, effectively interpreted the movement towards modernization of neo-empiricism.

In questo lavoro vorrei sostenere l'idea che la concezione del "tipo ideale" di Max Weber possa aver parte nel processo rivolto a formulare un concetto accettabile di legge e di teoria scientifica. Il rapporto fra Weber, teorico delle scienze storico-sociali, e la filosofia della scienza post-positivista è reso possibile da Carl Hempel, che ha compreso l'importanza del messaggio weberiano e, nello stesso tempo, ha interpretato in maniera estremamente efficace il movimento di modernizzazione del neo-empirismo.
