La ricerca indaga il significato simbolico dei capelli nelle fonti medievali. I capelli segnavano lo status, l’identità sociale, l’età e il sesso. Nelle società germaniche, i capelli lunghi indicavano l’appartenenza a famiglie di alto rango; erano considerati un segno di forza e di potere in campo maschile, mentre le donne usavano i capelli per aumentare il loro fascino.
