Demolizioni e ricostruzioni ‘qualunquiste’ nell’ambiente antico di Catania. Il caso del quartiere Antico Corso

In line with research on the landscape and architectural fragilities of Sicilian historical centres, the paper exposes a critical reflection on the urbanistic developments of the second half of the 20th century. Searching for echoes of the Venice Charter in Catania, the study focuses on the case of the Antico Corso neighbourhood, peculiar for its mixture of fragments of medieval, sixteenth-century fortifications and historical and modern architecture.
