Ferdinando Paternò. Ascesa, successi ed oblio di un gesuita del Cinquecento

This magazine aims to highlight the characteristics of the social typology of the so-called “Meteors”. These figures crossed the great theme of social mobility up and down as subjects who were very lucky, climbing social, institutional, political or economic peaks at a given time and at a given space, but they failed to give continuity to their successes. The text takes up some of the studies that in the fields of sociological and historical research can constitute the background that then allows us to draw the theoretical and methodological framework of reference.

Il numero intende chiarire le caratteristiche della tipologia sociale delle “meteore”, ovvero figure che incrociano il grande tema della mobilità sociale in ascesa e discesa in quanto soggetti che hanno avuto grande fortuna, riuscendo a scalare le vette sociali, istituzionali, politiche o economiche in un dato tempo e in un dato spazio, ma non sono riusciti a dare continuità al loro successo. Nel testo si riprendono alcuni degli studi che nei campi della ricerca sociologica e in quella storica possono costituire lo sfondo che permette poi di disegnare il quadro teorico e metodologico di riferimento.
