Rationale In 2024, the European Respiratory Society (ERS) launched a new Clinical Research Collaboration (CRC): Implications of Positive Airway Pressure and Home Mechanical Ventilation: TowArds optimal patient CarE (IMPORTANCE). The initiative aims to improve care for patients with sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and chronic respiratory failure (CRF) who require long-term respiratory support, i.e. positive airway pressure (PAP), home mechanical ventilation (HMV) or home nasal high-flow therapy (nHFT). IMPORTANCE seeks to establish the first international CRC dedicated to PAP/HMV/nHFT, in an age of ongoing transitioning care from hospital-based services to outpatient or home care settings, while ensuring high-quality care and addressing key research priorities.

Abstract
Rationale In 2024, the European Respiratory Society (ERS) launched a new Clinical Research Collaboration (CRC): Implications of Positive Airway Pressure and Home Mechanical Ventilation: TowArds optimal patient CarE (IMPORTANCE). The initiative aims to improve care for patients with sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and chronic respiratory failure (CRF) who require long-term respiratory support, i.e. positive airway pressure (PAP), home mechanical ventilation (HMV) or home nasal high-flow therapy (nHFT). IMPORTANCE seeks to establish the first international CRC dedicated to PAP/HMV/nHFT, in an age of ongoing transitioning care from hospital-based services to outpatient or home care settings, while ensuring high-quality care and addressing key research priorities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
